Guinness All The Way

Daphne Guinness is an important figure in the world of fashion, as a notable face, a collector, and an icon. At the request of Fashion Institute of Technology director Valerie Steele, she spent two years mounting an exhibition of a hundred displays of her clothing, which was staged within the context of her other projects, film and modelling. She is courted by many of the best-known names in fashion (such as Karl Lagerfeld, NARS, MAC, Akris, and Philip Treacy), working with them artistically or as a model or both.

Her best-known friend was the late fashion designer Alexander McQueen. Scheduled to model for charity on the runway the day his suicide was announced, Guinness veiled herself in mourning.

In January 2011, she was asked by Tom Ford to close his comeback womenswear show.

She creates and invents many objects herself, many inspired by her fascination with armour. She is known for a taste for skinny pants and platform pumps. She designs fashion, jewellery, and perfume for herself when she cannot find exactly what she wants to wear or buy. She has said that she created more than 100 pieces in 2010 alone.

Since 1994, she has been on the International Best Dressed Hall of Fame, which seeks to identify the best-dressed women in the world. In 2011, she created a make-up line for MAC cosmetics.

Infinitely Kusama, Infinitely Dotty!

Here at Valleydez, we have fallen in love with the new collabo between Japanese pop artist Yayoi Kusama and Louis Vuitton. Launched Tuesday, the line has taken Kusama’s signature polka dots to a new level: head-to-toe, LV’s latest range is all about the spots. Aptly titled, “Infinitely Kusama”, the range bears a classic-cum-adorable 1960s feel to it. Watch this teaser video to find out exactly why we’re head over heels:

The label’s artistic director, Marc Jacobs, could not have picked a better time to join forces with the artist, whose work is to be exhibited at the Whitney Museum of American Arts in New York this summer.

Skull Fever

It might be a bit early for halloween but here at ValleyDez we've developed a bit of a skull crush. We're really big on the skull accessory department and mainly focus on the quirky and the brights.

It's not everyday we see high fashion chic in trailer parks. Wonderland Magazine brought together this wonderful high fashion and trailer park kitsch to create a super fun, Americana style editorial. It stars model and Danish beauty Josephine Skriver, who is outfitted in designs of such labels as Christopher Kane, Balenciaga, Miu Miu and Dolce & Gabbana. We're lovin' how there is a trashy element to each ensemble while maintaining the summer trends of neon colours, textures and clashing prints.
